Dear Class of 2020 and families,
Welcome to your senior year! You’ve made it through three years of high school. Do you remember what it was like when you first walked through the doors of the high school for the first time? Senior year is an odd one, because there are moments of loss – you’re moving on to other adventures and there are also moments of anticipation as you think about college or a career after high school. While you’re at the top you have a great opportunity to help a lot of students navigate their way through their own high school experience. Don’t be afraid to leave your own positive legacy. It no longer matters who you were in the past and mistakes you have made; this year is about establishing who you will be. You must be accountable for your actions. No more excuses – only choices. You control those choices and we will support you while you figure out your next steps. Our work in the counseling department is to help prepare you for what comes next once you are on your own.
Before you can even think about Senioritis, there’s still a lot to do. The first half of your year will be filled with college applications and essays. If you’re planning on applying via early admissions, those applications are due in November. Most other applications are due in December or January. Pay close attention to your deadlines and always ask for help. Not everyone is planning on going to college. Whether you are planning the on military, developing job skills, or traveling, it still requires planning. Let us help you!
We are working hard to ensure that every student is given the chance to earn their high school diploma. We have audited all seniors transcripts and double checked the courses needed to meet the graduation requirements. Be sure to check your schedule in IC before school starts. We made adjustments to schedules to ensure that every student is on track to graduate. If you are off track, make sure that you set up a meeting with us at the beginning of the year to develop a plan for graduation.
We look forward to an amazing and successful senior year!
